How much does it cost??

Hi All,

I am about to take on a new sales guy to work one day a week and would like some idea of how much to pay them per day.

We work in the construction industry and require someone to speak to contacts, visit live construction sites and drop in business cards etc. The person in question is well known to us, is a sales rep in the construction industry and is semi retired so looking for something part time.

The question i have is he will be using his own car to travel between sites but no other real expense. we both want a simple fixed cost per day so we are not dealing with numerous mileage sheets etc.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure so i can use it to start negotiations.

Work back to a salary + mileage, and use a salary based on what you would pay someone full time for the same role.

i.e. 25K/year is £96 per working day (no holidays, etc)
If he averages 30 miles per day, at £0.25 per mile that's £7.50.

Base the calculations on what the industry standard is for someone of their level, and negotiate from there!
