Can someone please enlighten me on how much it's going to cost to get my website popping up on the 1st page of Google when my business is searched for please?

Also what are the listings that have A, B, C etc next to them?

Many thanks

Wow ! now that's a question.... and the truth be said it's totally unknown ... it can depend on lots of things, your competition, keyword relevance .... if done correctly you maybe able to get to page one for free it just depends. As regards the ACB these are Google maps/places if you have a premises then be sure to claim use and again if done correctly you can land yourself in this list... happy to hook up and discuss in more detail and guide you.

There are a lot of factors to be considered if you are going to compute the cost of your marketing campaign. But you can always use free ways (SEO mostly) for your website ranking then set a specific budget for your paid campaign (PPC, etc).

If you want to rank quickly, you can choose to promote long tail keywords instead of the generic, high competitive ones.

But like everyone said here, you need to consider a lot of factors- like your niche, market, target keywords, etc.

Remember that not all paid techniques can guarantee you on first page of SERPs.

Probably between £0 and £300M+

It all depends on what you want to be found for, where you want to be found, how user friendly your website is, how often you keep it updated, how well it was built....

So many factors are involved that it's a near impossible question to answer accurately without answering a few questions.

Heh.

That's an interesting question.

And frankly speaking, there's no any definite answer to it. The amount of money one will have to spend to make a website rank#1 will vary from industry to industry, from keyword to keyword and from website to website.

As for paid search, you won't know the cost of running adverts on Google until you start an account and setup a campaign. The cost of this may vary depending on the popularity of the keyword, the relevance and success of your landing page and more.

Talking about organic listings, you can't buy organic listings. You just need to know how to build a quality website, produce sharable content and build/earn links.

So basically, what everyone is saying here is simple, what do you want to rank for then someone will give you a rough quote :p

Otherwise you're essentially asking how long is a piece of string. However, I'd also recommend asking an SEO to define what KWs would be good for you. (He should consult you on what you really want to sell/what's best for your business etc)

Yeah go to http://www.lynda.com to learn more about their courses on links. I took one of their courses and they go into depth about how to structure your content better to attract links and what to do and where to go to drop your links .It was fairly in depth .

good points. I think consulting an SEO is wise. I work as an SEO and did some PPC as well, so I think it's a crucial step in the process.

Just quick point to consider, personally I'd be wary of any SEO company/individual promising page/search positions on Google. Google change their search algorithms on an almost daily basis at the moment, so making any guarantees about natural search placement is not possible.

SEO on its own will not (normally) deliver. Link building is fine, and a necessity, but you can actually drive traffic to your site proactively using social media, email marketing, word of mouth, blogs and a variety of other ethical methods. I would not get hung up on SEO on its own. It will end in tears for you. Adwords could be a short term fix, however in most markets, where you don't have brand recognition in them especially, it is my experience that people click on brand. We carry out customer journey surveys for our clients every 30 days and you would be amazed at what people actually believe - a real eye opener. Our only concern is how to either put more money in your bank account or get you more enquiries if you don't sell online.

Hi

Do you own a painting contracting business?

As Llocally pointed out the A,B,C listings are for Google+ Business. The letters A,B,C etc correspond to their position on the map to the right.

You can claim your Google+ Page for Business for free. Just type "Google+ Page" into Google and it should be the first result. You will need to have a physical address. If you are running your business out of your home you can use that as your address.

Sometimes the Google+ local listings aren't that competitive. If you have properly optimized the listing, build citations, get reviews etc you should find you can rank for local search terms on the first page.

Hope that helps.

Everything you've said in this post was extremely helpful and accurate. I know yellow pages in Canada is offering such package deals for many companies. Google definietely favours it's own stuff a lot more just like Google +1s are worth more than a relevant link. There was a study done by Moz and that's what they found. So don't forget or underestimate the power of Google+1s

Sell on Amazon and it'll be much, much, much cheaper and far, far, far quicker. Utilising their authority in Google's eyes is the best way to get first page as quickly as possible. Plus, you don't have to be as cautious with your selection of SEO services; high pr blog posts will usually do the trick. You have more room to manoeuvre when using Amazon's authority.

Hey,

I guess you really are looking to dominate first page organic and local. That's a very ambitious project, when so many things have changed on Google. Cost is variable and once you are in, there is no way out, unless you wanna lose. A good advise from me is to make good analysis before deciding to go on this. Also when you are ready hope to be advised well, and don't start to optimize keywords like "hotels", "games", etc because it will take forever. Someone has to teach you how to make a SEO plan that will contain tertiary, secundary and primary keywords. And each keyword class needs to contain the root of primary keywords, and obvious when they start to rank it will be a pyramid effect.

About the budget. It's simple it can cost you as much as you want. There are always people ready to work for ₤1000, ₤10 000 or ₤250 projects, but you need to understand the long term effects.

Cheers,
Matt:)
