My accounts were late by a month due to serious illness, the late filing fee was £150, I filled out a claim in late Feb but not heard back - was wondering how long do they usually take?

Well I was just checking previous correspondence I've had with HMRC / CH and they have always seem to have replied to letters within a month. It might be worth checking you sent the letter to the correct "department" or of course it could be due to the time of year, lots of year ends etc going on. If you're worried about it you could give them a call to check they actually received your letter, did you send recorded delivery.

    On CH website:

"Our team is currently very busy, so it might take longer than usual to reply to appeals. We’ll suspend all recovery action until your appeal has been considered and you’ll receive a full reply in due course - you do not need to contact us".

And more reading on the topic:

I sent the message using their online system and received confirmation it had been sent on the 27th of Feb.
