How easy is it to open a small business in Malta?

Hello Friends,

I've been surfing around on the web and have gathered some helpful sources on this subject but I'm wondering if anyone on here has actually been through the process of opening a small business in Malta themselves and can share any experience or advice.

How easy or difficult is it to open a small business in Malta? Is there much assistance as in the UK? For clarification, the business would be a logistic company. What is the common paper work during this? Is it better to use local service agent or I can handle it myself?

Any help and advice will be much appreciated from someone with experience.

Thanks for any help.

Hi!

I do have an experience with registering companies in Malta and their corporate maintenance.

In case you are not planning to be located in Malta and/or have your employees, you do need to have an experienced service provider that would assist with incorporation and annual compliance.

You need a local Director (who can be a nominee director) in order to have a local bank account, you also need to have local registered address and a secretary. This is also usually provided by your corporate administrator.

Malta does offer some benefits, however there may be other alternatives in the EU that in my experience are more cost-effective for maintenance (as long as your business model can allow to choose from alternative jurisdictions)

Why Malta?

Probably because Malta has one of the lowest corporate tax rates and personal income taxes in Europe which is very appealing to foreign businessmen.

In general you may need to see these steps for starting a company there. And here is some advise for logistic company, which may finalize your decision and get assistance if required.

Hello good morning,

may I ask you why exactly Malta? Because for what you need there are other places with same or lower taxation and lot less expensive.

I actually live in Sofia (Bulgaria), and a lot of people come just for business purposes (open LTD companies).

The taxation is pretty low (flat tax 10%), and the costs are way cheaper than Malta.
Malta has a better weather tho (now here is freeeezing!!)

Well, if you need some more infos drop me a PM (and visit our website www[dot]adversaria[dot]bg)

Good Luck with your project :)
