How do you find your market?

As a person that owns a market validation company, I see people coming with an idea that has no audience at all. They think that they guessed that there is a market, they asked friends and family to seek approval, but when they built a product it turned out no one wanted to use it.
Sure, try to guess your market, but validate it as well. Otherwise, you might run into troubles!
There are many ways of validating the market, from picking up a phone, to giving out flyers or doing surveys.

Educated guesses is not market research :)
It's not but it's often where I start with testing an idea. So i wondered if just throwing stuff out to see what sticks is the best way.

If I flip a coin enough times i suppose eventually it'll land on heads.

Have read a couple a books about validating and testing the market like Ask and "will it fly" but I'm more interested to know how other people are approaching this. My assumption is most focus more just keeping what they already have running.

I would never suggest your approach if you want to develop a successful, sustainable business.

Firstly you need to do market research to understand if there is enough of a market for your product/service at the price you want to sell at.

Secondly you need to understand who your competitors are, what makes them stand out and how they market themselves.

Thirdly you need to understand which channels you need to use to reach your target market, your brand positioning and what content and collateral you need to develop to successfully use these channels. And the budget of implementing any plan.

Finally you need to be able to evaluate the success of any activity and use key learnings to inform future activity.

So 'throwing stuff out there and seeing if it sticks' is definitely not a good use of your time and money.

My market is every where were the need is. It is very part of world vide cultures so I just need to present in the most common places where people do search for it. Right now Google search is what I am trying to do and I will see if my strategy really do work.
