i have been using a back links checker online to see what companies are linked to in my industry, i don’t get how they are able to get listed on so many websites/blogs that are largely not relevant to the industry.

How do they to do this, i have seen many companies do this and i want to know the process myself but i am unable to identify how they do it.

If anyone has any experience of using any software or websites that enable me to do the above please help.

Link building isn't directly for getting business, it's used to build the main website up the rankings to then generate business.

And they will obtain irrelevant links from link building or paying

Trust me this is one of the easiest things to do.. you can have loads of such unwanted backlinks for your website, just out source your work to Bangladesh or pakistan, they will build so such irrelevant links to your site that you will think that they will do a whole lot of good for your site.. but they all end up harming your site in longer run.

There might be a number of reasons why they have loads of backlinks;

1. They pay for backlinks in bulks thinking that this may have a positive effect on their website; that also explains why the majority of the links to be irrelevant. In this long term, this is just a rubbish strategy.

2. They have done it on purpose to confuse the competitors, e.g. they won't easily find the QUALITY links that this particular website has obtained.

3. They have been spammed by their competitors (in the hope that their website will be penalised for excessive link building). This scenario is less plausible for the majority of the websites.

Your strategy should always be:

a. Optimize your website properly (e.g. title, navigation, headings, internal linking, anchor texts)

b. Slowly but surely link up backlinks from trustworthy sources (there is no harm if you check on your competitors, find their high-value backlinks and try to get them for your website).

c. Have patience.

This is the best advice I can give you at this moment in time.

Hey, There are endless tools out there to scrape backlinks from anywhere and everywhere. Tools such as SEnukeX, Xscraper, scrapejet, nohandsSEO...endless.

If they are paying someone to build links the chances are they are using some software to blast the backlinks, always remember 100 quality backlinks can be more sufficient then 10,000 spam links.

Hello,

As I know these software tools will not bring good effect...they can make you website's positions worse...Be careful!

Cheers,
Lewis

Yes and no. any tool is as good as its user. Personally we use these sorts of tools for businesses that have limited budgets and have had excellent serps improvements.

tools like xrumer senuke and even scrapebox have been around for years because................they work :)

any company looking to grab serps needs to mix it up a bit and not just go for one type of backlinks from say blogs or forum backlinks.

I wonder if 2012 will be the year when Google really does penalise sites for building 1,000s of paid-for links. Seems everyone has been saying they will but.....

That said it really is true that a few high-quality links work better than masses of low-quality links -I have seen the evidence with my own eyes!

As others have said they are more than likely paid links. If you have the money then sourcing links from websites which have good back link profiles and are relevant will help your rankings.

In terms of Google cracking down on paid links, I can't see this ever happening, after all how could they prove which links were paid for and which were not.

They won't penalise. They will just be downgraded in favour of content, coding and volume. I believe 2012 will be the beginning any how. For spam-links generated by xrumer etc.

If the current trend continues Google will continue to drop in quality to the point that something will pop up and take its place. It's the way of the internet. Just look what happened to Myspace...

It's all very well saying build links slowly and gradually over time.

But I've witnessed a site zoom up the rankings in the last few months and the main area of improvement is unique link domains which have almost doubled in the last few months. Their total is now way ahead of our slow slow natural method. The links are almost total garbage.

If google is going to reward this fast method then it's obvious that webmasters will follow it as a development path.
