    Hello,

I have a list of about 400 names and addresses and email addresses in Excel. One set of details per row. The columns are consistent, so all email addresses are in the same column.

The names and addresses change on this database. I could create an address book, but because the data changes the address book would also need to be manually changed - too much work and liable to error.

Any advice on how best to send a bcc email to every email address on the excel database?

    Thanks

    Graeme

    How about using MailChimp?

You can import data from spreadsheets straight into their "lists", and then send them emails / newsletters. You can also grab data from the lists, such as first name, and insert this into the email, so it starts with "Hi John, how are things in London?"

The emails are sent to the recipients, with no knowledge of each other. Also using something like Mailchimp means your email is less likely to be flagged up as spam, where as if you bulk send from your own email address, you might find you get black-listed quite quickly.

Why do you need to BCC? Why not send an individual email to each recipient?

You can do this by using Word with a Mail Merge under Mailings.

Select Mailings>Recipients>Use an Existing List and upload your spreadsheet.

Write the email in Word and it will send an individual email to each recipient - no need to BCC because each is separate. You can personalise the email with first name from the list too

However, like a previous respondent I'd suggest you take a look at Mailchimp if you're planning to do much of this. It looks after 'opt-outs' and manages the list so you can't inadvertently send to people who have asked not to receive.
