How are they doing it?

Hi im intrested in importing leather faux storage beds and have seen prices for about £50-70 FOB price minimum order of 50.I know before i rush into this it would be best to get samples and also have an agent to check the product.I also know that there will be another number of costs from FOB to get a courier to drop them to door.Firstly what other costs do i need to consider?


Now i get to my second point sellers on ebay are selling these kingsize beds for £140 inluding vat.Also Free delivery to anywhere in the UK.I dont have a clue how they are doing this! How can you make a profit.For instance if it cost me £90 each to get a bed here then i would need to add vat onto that and also delivery! These beds way about 45kg.I put that in on a website and it came up £60 to deliver! These are offering FREE delivery and withing 2days!

Some people think making £5 on a sale is great! You factor in listing fees from ebay, and payment processing fees and you'll see their profit take drops to insignificant!

Ebay is cluttered with these idiots. Personally I stopped buying stuff on ebay years ago, as I have learned the hard way, that the bargains just weren't bargains.

Surely this is purely down to economies of scale that the ebay sellers have in place.

You'll soon see the price drop when you're ordering 1000+ units.

Plus if you can guarantee a courier a larger amount of business I would guess you wouldn't be paying £60 to deliver!

Some eBay sellers are running fairly sizeable operations. The same as anywhere it can be hard to compete with the big guys!

Work harder on your USP to get an advantage in an area other than price?

A large majority of Ebayers are nothing more than Drop Ship Operations.

Yes there are the Large Retailers that have their "Outlet" stores on ebay.

I agree there are a few larger independents on ebay. Some make really good money.

I do know alot of the Distributors have a seperate ebay accounts, which are often registered with disconnected businesses etc, and the offload slow selling stock on there too, sometimes the hot sellers too They do rely on their economies of scale there.
