Hosting problem - Is UKHost4U AWOL??

Hi there,

Is anyone else using UKHost4U.com for hosting? My websites and seemingly theirs have disappeared tonight, no email response from their Support (normally pretty quick), and their phone number isn't connecting to anything (guessing they'd be using VOIP, if that makes a difference) - does this look like a network problem or have they buggered off??

Anyone advice urgently and gratefully received!

Regards,

Consider that it is Saturday night, and they may not have the usual staff levels to hand.

Have you backed up recently? Might be time to find a new host. There are plenty on here who offer a decent service.

I can also access their site though

Hi

This threads gone quiet, did you manage to get your site back up and running? is it cpanel your control panel? quite possibly if you were doing something at the time ie trying to login to cpanel ftp or email with the wrong password more than a number of times, their firewall may of blocked your IP.

i agree with Ryann always worth paying that little extra to ensure you have backups all the time. Possibly look for a new host maybe but yes could indeed be an issue with your Orange mobile broadband (i just bought one friday and for the life of me cant get it to work with WIndows 7 yet!)

We moved away fro them a few years ago, and moved to godaddy due to reliability and speed issueds and it made a massive difference for the better IMO.

I was told that one of things (amongs many) that search engines like Google use to place your location is the location of your servers. When I shopped around I found UKHOST4U to be one of the few companies that said that there data centre was in the UK, instead of Europe or US somewhere.

I also ran a Canvas Printing website on UKHost4u, it was around 8 months ago. We had a few problems with slow loading and time out errors.

We wanted our servers to be UK Based so went with VidaHost.com have not had a single problem with them :)

IMO regardless of location goggle needs to be able to index your site when they come to look at it, if your site isn't avialble or is to slow goggle will index something else or will or will only index a very small amount.

IMO location is a secondary consideration and reliability should be first.

When I tested my site it loaded fast as far as some SEO tests were concerned. It gave a report as excelent.

Can anyone suggest some other hosting companies that have servers in the UK.

Also what does IMO stand for?
IMO = In my opinion

I thought it was important that it is just my opinion an I am no expert on this.

Sorry I have no idea about other hosting companies and their locations of their servers, if you put a post in the IT forum their are loads of people on the forum that offer hosting, and should be able to give you better advice than me.
