Hosting for multiple domains

I am thinking of changing my web host, as a result of increasing requirements, and several websites.

I am looking for a reliable host, preferably at sensible price! who can host multiple domains on one account, so they each have their own web space, not in sub directories. I also want all the extras that happen these days, php, mySQl etc

It has been suggested to me that getting a reseller account might give me the most flexibility.

Any thoughts / ideas?

Thanks

Julia

With what you are looking for it may be worth looking at a more flexible host that can do things manually for you (as not many of these automated control panel setups can do what you need).

Give Mark's contact a try, or politically .... try our sponsor for these forums Transexis :)

I've also heard many positive testimonials (from people I trust) about Kieron of BetterWebSpace. I'm not a customer. It was a toss up for me whether I went with him or another company. The other company only won because we happened to meet the owner in a bar in Bangkok and it makes things easier when you have a personal connection (and the MD's mobile phone number :D ).

Whatever you do, look around the Internet first and see what others are recommending or complaining about. We used to have a reseller package with HostEurope (now taken over by Pipex). This is one of the market leaders and you'll pay top-notch prices for something like this. We weren't happy with them at all, which is why we moved. Now we pay much less and the service isn't any worse. I'm not saying it's better, but it's certainly cheaper. :)

I have changed, but it was a total nightmare time, and resulted in my site being down twice, due to the first host not delivering, so had to change again, and me coming close to chucking in online business

I have not actually got all my domains in one place at the moment, which was my intention, though I have consolidated a bit!

The reasoning behind a reseller account was just that it would give me the availability and flexibility I needed at a lower cost than having 4 or 5 accounts separately.

Many business accounts offer way over what I need on most things but then limit bandwidth, so are not cost effective, yet if I put all accounts in one place and happened to have 2 promotions on concurrently would mean I overshot on bandwidth.

I found a reseller account that would give me everything I need but would cost £300 pa. Mind you when I add up the bits, I may not be far from that.

I have also moved one of my small sites and had to change a second time on that after 2 weeks due to downtime. And they won't give me a refund - so much for customer service !

The joys of the internet eh?
