Morning guys.

Im looking to start doing home parties (ann summers style), my partner is going to do the parties, i will be doing the rest. With hope to use a few other female family members later down the line.

Has anyone got any advice, or able to point me in the right direction as to any things we would need to do or laws that need to be adhered to?

Anyone done similar and care to share any info?

What will you be selling? Where will you be getting stock from? Are you hoping to franchise eventually? How much will you be selling the start up packs for? Where will you be advertising? Do you have a website? Facebook business page? You need to have a bit of structure to the party style? Ann summers works well as all women together buying sexy underwear - they get to try dresses etc on and feel the vibrators etc but these are sample products so you need to lay out money for samples and lose money on those.

Hi,

It will be a very similar style party to the ann summers ones. Selling big name products, but at low prices.

Stock is already sourced, i have contacts within all the big named stock i wish to sell. As we already sell alot of it.

Not sure about franchising out yet, but i will offer people the oppertunity to buy a kit and buy stock from us (self employed basis)

We already have a website and facebook page, and good customer base.

Sample products are no issue.

Its the legal side of them, like insurances etc i have no idea about

We have a few Ann summers parties come to our bar. Think reps now see this as a way to get a bigger crowd rather than 5-10 people in a house.
Ladies see it as more of a night out than a night in and talk to your landlord as they could help u put on say a male stripper or something and charge for tickets so you can be in profit before the night starts.
Then bigger crowd = bigger sales.
Then u deffo won't have to worry about insurances etc

1) A business bank account to keep your finances in order
2) Register with HMRC (for your self assesment return)
3) Business insurance

I already have a business account as well as being registered with the HMRC for self employed.

What is business insurance needed for? What do i need cover for?

As i will be getting others to go to the parties, then effectivly buying off me, do i really need anything like public liablity etc? As its surely then down to the person holding the party?

Anywhere i can research this? Google brings back next to nothing.

Hi - Sorry I assumed you would be going to peoples houses or have people come to yours... however if you are doing your party groups in other locations whereby its insured by others, I'd just ask the question -is your liability is covered by them.. best of luck with your venture...

Hi, sorry I've not made myself very clear.

I want it to work like this...

I will create catalogues containing all my stock and prices. Supply a starter kit which includes products and catalogues, plus a guide on how to run a party and things like order forms.

The person who then buys the starter kit then finds people to host a party at their own home with friends.

The person then collects payments. Goes to a website I will create, and orders all the items ordered. I then send the items to them and they then take them to the party host.

I will then pay them a percentage of sales after 30 days.
