Hi Guys

What home business insurance do you use and how much appro do you pay per year

The home is used for administrative use only
However want to cover personal possessions as well
Most of it is personal but the laptops and some other electrical stuff is bought through the business
I also want to ensure the laptops for when we are out and about.

I am wondering if it is best to get seperate business insurance and home contents or to get something combined.

Your advice and recommendations would be appreciated as they have been brilliant in the past for other things.

Many Thanks

Hi There,

One of my clients deals with business owners who have had their insurance rejected or disputed after their businesses premises have been damaged by fire, flood etc. This is potentially devastating for the future of the business so I would really recommend you take as much time as you can looking into what you need.
<deleted> go to the BIBA website to find yourself a broker, they have a list of respected brokers. There is no substitute for an advice led purchase in insurance. biba.org.uk

Hope this helps.

Currently, unless disclosed to your insurer and they have accepted it, your home insurance wont cover anything "owned" by the business. Actually operating a business from your home may also invalidate the cover depending on the insurer and their attitude.

there are a number of ways to do this:

1. separate cover for the business
2. working from home, home insurance
3. modify current cover to suit

however, please use a broker as you need to be advised on this, when you deal direct with an insurer you are unadvised
