So myself and colleague, who works in a different department, booked a holiday and then requested time off work. I know this was the wrong way round but as it’s 4 months away and nobody else in the shop is off at that time we thought we’d be ok.
As you can probably guess they’ve rejected our holiday request stating that we can’t both be off at the same time.
Everybody else’s holidays get authorised without question; they have 2 people from the same department off on the same week yet we can’t be off same time and we’re different departments. They are just being spiteful. I have done a rota for the manager showing our shifts can easily be covered, also it’s 4 months away which is plenty of time to train all the staff for both departments which has supposed to have been happening for months now.
Not only this, we both have nearly 2 weeks left on this year's annual leave to take that we’ve been unable to take due to staff shortages, my colleague has been single handily running her department for months and now has help yet is still being told can’t have holidays due to being short staffed.
I could understand if our holiday was next month, but it’s 4 months away they are being totally unreasonable. We’re basically being penalised for being good workers. Any advice?
