HMRC Basic PAYE Tools and recoverable amounts!

Hi,

I am really pulling my hair out. HMRC don't seem to be able to answer this issue.

I am using Basic PAYE tools. We had advance funding for SMP of about 6k. I entered the advanced funding in "Employer Payment Summary and recoverable amounts" and submitted it.

But HMRC say that I have a debt which is equal to the SMP I have paid out. I expect one to cancel the other as the full SMP is recoverable.

I see "submitted" in basic paye tools but the balance on the HMRC website is 6k. Plus they keep sending me nice letters about it!

Any ideas anyone.

No, I did think about it but would I then end up with twice the reclaim value that I should be making?

Does anyone know what form you would fill in to inform HMRC of a recoverable amount?
