Hiya all, Newbie finding way round

Hi all i just joined up tonight, i was browsing the web looking for somewhere that has hints and tips for businesses, i have just started my own business and am currently working on my business plan (oh the joy) im looking forward to being able to chat with you all and share and accept brainstorming ideas :). Im very interested in any suggestions on using recycled products in art as currently im kinda restricted to recycling wool, wood, material, wallpaper (unused rolls of course not ones peeled off the wall) :p and various other scraps

Hi Mike and thank you, i think recycled is the way forward now with so much being thrown away, my latest recycle was using my mum's old duffle coat (it had a hole in it) to make teddy bear cards, of course the buttons have been kept to go onto a knitting project, i dont see the point in buying new when there is so much out there that can be recycled (after a clean). I wouldnt know where to start with attracting corporates etc as im just starting my own business, but thats something im willing to find out about
Thanks for the post :)

Hi and welcome to UKBF. Sounds like you have an interesting business - do you have a website or a shop? You might find The Green Room useful - as its for discussion of ethical/eco practices in business which recycling certainly is!

Freecycle might be a good way to find materials also - find your local group online and you'll probably find lots of people offering all sorts of materials.

Anyway I hope you find the forum useful, let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Hi Paula thank you for the advice, im just starting up in business and on a NVQ3 Business course for self employment so as yet i havent set up a web site but do plan on doing so in the not too distant future. I love to freecycle and believe that lots more people should use the service i have been given a few things from fellow freecyclers. I will try out the green room it sounds like a good place to swap ideas about. Many Thanks yet again

Oh im also looking for ideas for a business name at the moment, so far its been called *the business* lol all ideas welcomed, its a carving/crafting/metaphysics/author kinda business a bit of a mixture but needs one name

Hi and welcome to the forum

I've seen a couple of stalls in Camden Market in North London selling stuff made out of old Printed circuit boards for a lot of money!!

I guess old electronics are easy to get hold of too

All the best

Thank you all for the warm welcome the circut board things sound good Jonathan I shall have to think of how we can incorporate electronic waste into card, I currently use obsolete fuse wire to create hand crafted flowers but im sure more can be done i shall have to get the creative mind onto it :)

howdy!

i always thaught resistors looked good when i used to push them thru my jeans ( only cos it made it easier to steal them from collage)

and the only thing i would say about the electrical stuff is be careful as lots of it has chemicals that need special hadleing (ie lead in solder and electorlite fluid in capaciters)

Anyway good luck
