Ok so i've been looking around for a job and obviously there isn't that many going round at the moment so I thought id offer myself up to anyone on here that wants anything doing. Im an intelligent college student and although i do some freelance graphic designing im offering myself up to anything at all, designing, leaflet distribution, anything at all that your business needs.

Make yourself know by writing an interesting blog that shows you're good in your field. Then share it on social medias like Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

Do you have a LinkedIn account? There you can join groups related to the service you provide to discuss your expertise. Remember to never advert, but reply in an accurate way (give a useful answer), that will make you professional.
You can network with people there. Usually, there is a job board where you can find work.

You can, also, get a job through simply participating on forums related to graphic design.

This may be a stupid question, I know, but on a site such as freelancer.com whereby the currency is all in USD, how does that work for receiving the payment in GBP?

Ben, firstly give your self a pat on the back for asking for a job. That earns my respect and putting yourself out there.

Joyce gives good advice. I use some of those site and I posted 2 jobs there recently. So, get yourself registered, it might give you a break/opening.

dedwardp, most of these site are US based, and because the international currency now is USD, they all more less use that a the default currency. I am assuming they have a conversion calculator and transfer/paypal the money into your account. The buy and the seller bids in the same currency, so the only issue is the exchange rate. You just have to accept their exchange rate (this is what I assume).

Thanks Ryan - I thought as much in that it suggests payment via Paypal and therefore that it would ultimately be converted, I just wasn't sure as to whether that was possible with Paypal.

Yes it is possible. If you buy from anyone that charges in another currency, PayPal automatically coverts it based on it's own calculations. It's not always 100% fair but a good system and it works. So, in your bank statement you'll see the coverted amount in pounds.
