Help with tag

Hi all can you help I have been told that the following tag need to be removed from my html
<meta name="revisit-after" content="5 days"/>

my first question why and should I replace it with something else what is best for SEO

It's not important - it's just an unofficial way of suggesting to search engines how often they return to index your website (they make up their own mind anyway!).

Leave it or remove it - doesn't really matter. It was developed for a Canadian local search engine - the big ones never adopted it.

I don't believe your going to see any impact from removing it, as I don't believe Google will take any notice whatsoever of that tag.

The best way to dictate how often Google visits your website is by uploading regular fresh content.
