Guys,

I have had someone part time and want to take him on full time.

I find the legal requirements about what I need an absolute headache I can never seem to work out.

So If I want to pay this worker 15k per annum for example.. what else to I need to pay in addition to this and where too? And how do I work out how much tax he has to pay?

I heard i need to pay national insurance aswell?

I have search but nowhere can i find a definite answer?

Thanks very much for any help

How much were you paying him for the part time work? If you are paying him more than £109 per week or he has another job/pension then you should have already registered with HMRC as an employer and submitted RTI to HMRC each pay day. This has to be done via payroll software which will calculate the tax and NI due (or you can pay your accountant/book keeper or a payroll outsourcing company to do it for you).

At £15,000 per annum you will need to pay about £1,008 in national insurance contributions. You will also need to deduct tax and national insurance contributions from your employee and pay all of these to HMRC , either monthly or quarterly.

You must pay at least minimum wage, which will be £6.31 from 1 October. At £15,000 pa that is about 46 hours per week

If you are having difficulty finding the information on this I would strongly recommend using a payroll service. If you would like a quote please feel free to PM me.
