Hi, everyone my name is Dave and i have just purchased the rights to an aftermarket spray on solution which makes windows self cleaning. I was told by the owner of the uk rights, that they were going to sell the product to double glazing firms as it costs about £30-40sqm to make the glass self cleaning whereas my solution costs about £3sqm. My idea was that if i could offer self cleaning double glazing at £100 more than standard i could potentialy corner the market. So after all my babbling what i need is some advice on where to start in setting up a double glazing company, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks Dave

Not going to give you a lot of information ('cause I'm pressed for time today) but....

You have two options. The first, and the least lucrative is to start up your own firm selling double glazing with your special unique formula which will cost you LOADS in start-up costs and time.

The second, which would probably see much better returns is offering a service to people who have already got double glazing installed. Go to their homes, wash the windows, spray on your magic liquid, and charge them £300. You can then show them a price-comparison of using you and getting a window cleaner in once a month ;)

I would start by offering the service for free to say 10 homes get some testimonials and get a site built with some great content. From there i would then look at who my target market is and work out a strategy that will benefit you with a great return on your investment.

There is a lot more to this and i would be happy to advise free of charge. Please pm me or contact me on 01344 861947 if your interested

Best Regards

Dave

I know a couple of d&g companies and also an organisation for upvc products. The may be an opportunity to get it out to the trade via these contacts if you want to go down that route.Another contact i know does repairs to upvc and also training courses on it, this product could be a brilliant upsell to people in this part of the trade.

Hi Dave,

I am already in the double glazing industry as a rep for a big group. I do have enquiries about the self cleaning glasses from customers.

It may be a good side business for me. Please do pm me some additional information. I live in Hampshire and hope this area is still available.

Thanks
