Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of starting up a food delivery/catering company (doing sandwich/lunch rounds & corporate catering to start), there will be a strong emphasis on fresh, good for you, tasty food, made with love :). I'm having trouble with the business name, I've come up with some ideas below but would really like some feedback e.g. your favourite/least favourite and any other suggestions?!

Thanks a lot!

The Really Tasty Food Company

Hungry Bytes

The Snack Shak

The Braw Food Co

Delite

Balanced Bytes

Food2Go

Well, since we are talking about fresh and good food, then I'd go for Balanced Bytes. But I strongly suggest that you alter it to The Balanced Bites. Bytes is a computer term, and unless your company serves exclusively IT-related firms, then the message might not be clear. If we use 'Bites' then at least someone who hears your company name for the first time will instantly know that you are a food company serving good food.

I agree on the spelling of "Bites" but I wouldn't use "The" at the start.

You need to check whether suitable domain names are available and that you're not treading on anyone's toes in respect of any name chosen - check Companies House for example.

I quite enjoy these "name my business" posts. How about these:

Taste-a-lot
or Sir Taste-a-Lot
The Desert Foods
(Slogan - Why go to The Desert? Because of the sandwiches there.)
Taste Oasis
Lovely Grubly
Nice Healthy Food (the .co.uk domain is currently available for this)

I've just seen your forum handle - why not use that as a business name?

Mmmm, Healthy Food Fast I did think about that but I wasn't convinced on the Fast part for some reason. But I'll include this in the few that I take along on my market research as the customers may just love it :)

While I like the concept and would prefer to eat healthy food, I doubt that many people will go much out of their way to ensure that the food is healthy. Its more they will avoid substandard food but if it is okay they will not seek out a greater standard. They may not perceive much difference between your BLT and someone else's BLT evif your tomatoes are fresher, more local, or organic.

I doubt that corporate clients are over impressed with 'healthy' but that they are reliable and appropriate to use for clients.

So, before you select a name and/or strap line, try to think what will attract people to use your services.

You might consider a name which conjures up an image rather than explains too much such as ...

applecart
pricklypear
pamperhamper

I LOVE coming up with names...

Agree The Really Tasty Food Company is my fave, but very long for a domain... Don't like Balanced Bites personally. Can't say it very easily! Break bites is good though I agree with Christine re an image, who are you trying to attract? Should it sound cheap or quality? I imagine something around fast food/easy/delivery

How will food be delivered? On bike? Any stories about delivery that would help create a brand? (Eg you deliver on a bike that was your Grandpa Joe's so you named the company after him etc)

Sure we can get something great for you!

Think about who your market is. Are you going for a greasy spoon/burger van type or up market and wedding reception/corporate entertainment sort of thing.

IMO I wouldn't want a company with a name like GRUBZUP (sounds catchy tho lol) catering at my wedding reception but I'd buy a burger from them at the local football match. However, I'd give DEVINE DINING a ring for a menu for a corporate event and I wouldn't expect to see burgers and chips on the menu.

If you're going for up-market clients go for an up market name and vice versa.
