Hello,

I have a startup flower and chocolate business which includes sending flower boxes with wet foams.
I have tried sending with DPD and Royal Mail but both did not handle the package well despite the clear instructions on the box.
What is the best courier service for a florist and how do all these florists deliver the flowers fresh next day without damages?
There is a severe lack of information regarding flower services.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

I can’t really help with courier suggestions but if previous packages weren’t handled correctly could you just look at how you package the flowers?

Is there better methods of securing the flowers within each postage box?

Actually, the packages were secured but they have been handled violently causing the box damage despite the bubble wraps.

I'd suggest you're going to need to either
A) find a 'dedicated' courier service, like ourselves.
B) Get a vehicle and do you own deliveries.

With parcel carriers such as DPD, Yodel, Hermes, Parcel Force etc. your items will be carried along with hundreds of others, then off-loaded and transferred numerous times - all of which add to the risk of damage along the way.

I've worked in a Hermes depot in the run up to Christmas and it's a wonder anything arrives in good condition, you can see boxes and bags being literally thrown around the place without a care in the world.

A dedicated carrier will load your goods and deliver direct. No messing about with warehouses and changing to other vehicles.

The problem with this is the cost. If you send one item a long way, it's going to be expensive. If you have a lot of deliveries then a good courier can plot an efficient route and spread the cost between all the deliveries.

In all honesty I think you may be asking for a bit too much I know zing flowers do a sealed postal service I don't what they are like because I only ever pull up weeds and Im no flowerist

As @AvangoCouriers has said a dedicated service would be the answer but in reality would be completely unviable due to costs
The overnight companies were never really there to ship fragile goods but I would as already suggested make your packaging bomb poof If you would like to continue offering this service.
This would be the only real option

    Thank you for your reply.
Ive tried asking dedicated couriers but the prices are ridiculously high. I am a startup business so using these services for the time being is out of question.

I do appreciate the conundrum, however you will probably find that the prices aren’t ridiculously high, but are appropriately high for the sevice offered

The stark reality is that you probably need to re-evaluate your offering or pricing to reflect the fragile nature of goods.
