So first of all I am just a lowly tearoom owner who has a domain which I access with cpanel and I suppose already you will know that I am not v techie savvy. Anyway I was logged on today as want to upload Wordpress and while logged on wanted to investigate Simple script and so had a lot of pages open in my browser. I think I might not had logged off cpanel but anyway when I wanted to log back on I just get "problem loading page" and it times out. What have I done?

Well this is embarrassing, after not being able to get in for the last hour it seems to be ok now. Perhaps it just times out? However I will be careful that I log out properly. However is Simple scripts now seemingly replaced by MoJo ok to use?

    Hi,

I previously tested simple scripts (before it was Mojo) and it was OK although the effort involved in setting it up (if it hasn't already been done by your hosts) outweigh the benefits in my opinion.

Installing WordPress manually is pretty easy see http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install

the problem with script installs is they often give you a user of 'admin' and if you don't go and change this and use weak password then you will get hacked - 100%.

Good thing about current release 3.8 is it insists on a stronger password.

some hosts have their security settings absurdly high, and simply uploading a wordpress installation has got my IP blocked from a server on occasion - check with your host to see if your IP has been blocked,.. but if not they'll be able to reset your password in a matter of seconds if u need it.
