Hi all!
I am currently organising a charity event for July this year and would like some help and advice if possible please.
The basic premise is to drive a 1969 MGB roadster (convertible) all the way around the Baltic Sea to raise money and awareness for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research.
We have chosen this charity as it is something important to both of us, I have friends affected by Leukaemia (luckily in remission at the moment) and my co-driver unfortunately lost his father to Leukaemia last year.
We are trying to get corporate sponsorship to help our cause and donate to the charity. In the current economic climate I'm sure you can all appreciate this is a difficult task!
We have had some small success so far with a very generous company offering to print the posters and flyers we need free of charge but there are many other things we could use some help with.
The Leukaemia and Lymphoma research charity are very keen to promote this event and will be featuring us as one of their main special events for the year and i also have some local media contacts who can help get more publicity (we are in Cambridge)
Can anyone give us some advise on who to approach for sponsorship etc? Is it worth trying the large companies for help i.e. Sony/Orange etc or do they get inundated so many with requests it's unlikely we will get a response?
I haven't organised an event on this scale before and it can be quite daunting!
We are also holding a charity concert locally and are looking for donations for raffle prizes to raise more funds, so if anyone has any tips on getting reasonable gifts to use for the prizes that would be great!
We are offering advertising space on the car in return for sponsorship and the publicity the event will generate
Thanks for reading all this! If anyone feels they can help in any way please get in touch. Just reply to this thread or e-mail us
We have a website set up but i cant post the link yet (need more posts!)
we are on twitter mgbaroundthesea
and e-mail mgbaroundthesea [at] gmail [dot] com
Thanks thanks thanks!
