Hi all!

I am currently organising a charity event for July this year and would like some help and advice if possible please.

The basic premise is to drive a 1969 MGB roadster (convertible) all the way around the Baltic Sea to raise money and awareness for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research.

We have chosen this charity as it is something important to both of us, I have friends affected by Leukaemia (luckily in remission at the moment) and my co-driver unfortunately lost his father to Leukaemia last year.

We are trying to get corporate sponsorship to help our cause and donate to the charity. In the current economic climate I'm sure you can all appreciate this is a difficult task!

We have had some small success so far with a very generous company offering to print the posters and flyers we need free of charge but there are many other things we could use some help with.

The Leukaemia and Lymphoma research charity are very keen to promote this event and will be featuring us as one of their main special events for the year and i also have some local media contacts who can help get more publicity (we are in Cambridge)

Can anyone give us some advise on who to approach for sponsorship etc? Is it worth trying the large companies for help i.e. Sony/Orange etc or do they get inundated so many with requests it's unlikely we will get a response?

I haven't organised an event on this scale before and it can be quite daunting!

We are also holding a charity concert locally and are looking for donations for raffle prizes to raise more funds, so if anyone has any tips on getting reasonable gifts to use for the prizes that would be great!

We are offering advertising space on the car in return for sponsorship and the publicity the event will generate

Thanks for reading all this! If anyone feels they can help in any way please get in touch. Just reply to this thread or e-mail us

We have a website set up but i cant post the link yet (need more posts!)

we are on twitter mgbaroundthesea

and e-mail mgbaroundthesea [at] gmail [dot] com

Thanks thanks thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the responses!

If only we had the offer of hosting the site a couple of weeks ago! Doh! I just paid for my site to be hosted :(

If you want to create a cartoon logo for us that would be great! I can get it printed out on a sticker to put onto the car!

Something on the bonnet would be great!

i have a website up and running now but i cant post the link to it yet if i said google mgbaroundthesea you will find it

or just add dot com to my user name!

I can see a logo of the car with 2 characters in it cartoon style and also incorporating the UK and Russia flag would be great!

Let me know if you can help as it would be fantastic! :)

My best response would be go local. Write to your local ASDA store manager for example or local stores - when I worked for a charity ASDA gave the new pre-school wellies boots for all the kiddies and some other extras. Find someone who believes in or has been affected by your cause - a wife/husband/relative who had the same condition and works for ___ business. Get personal with it especially when writing your letters etc and do your research so you know the names and information about them. Best of luck.

Helping for charity event it's really be great for helping more charity to increase more funding and others. So you can find some businessman to believe in your cause to helping them and sponsorship for charity event and helping more to increase more funding and giving best idea for event place and more. And you also get the some local man and woman for helping more for your cause.
