Hello!

I just popped on to say hello as I have just joined the forum.

I have been developing my Wedding & Event planning business for the past couple of years (having a baby in between put things on hold for a while!) so in that time I have been doing extensive research, putting together a website, meeting with local venues and suppliers, marketing, putting together packages, working on charity events etc.

I am now at the point where I am ready to take on clients and am currently organising a wedding fair so if anybody has any advice in the industry, it would be gratefully received!

Bye for now,
Emma :)

Hi Emma
Just came back to this forum after a couple of years looking for advice on running wedding fairs. I am a wedding photographer and exhibited at one recently that went quite well and am now considering running my own wedding fayres. Just trying to work out how to market a fayre to ensure lots of people turn up. Would be good to have a chat and bounce ideas of each other.

Hello, thank you for your replies.
I have lots of ideas for the fair and have nearly finalised the exhibitor packages. As I am seeing the event partly as a networking/marketing opportunity rather than maximising profit, I am not charging a huge amount to exhibitors. I am keen to market the fair as much as possible using various avenues. Its just difficult to guarantee any kind of footfall when its the first one.
Am happy to chat for ideas James! It always helps to bounce ideas as there is so much to think of/organise. What I am finding the most challenging at the moment is how best to work the fashion bridal show and whether to charge outside exhibitors the same or less! Again any advice in this area is very much appreciated :)
Thanks again

We have attended various Fayre's and have organised our own. If you attend a Fayre organised by a wedding dress retailer then at the end of the day they are mainly interested in selling dresses.
It is essential to pay consideration to the marketing of such events. We organised our own several years ago and a one half newspaper advertisement cost in excess of £650 !! Some members of the public think that they should not pay to come into any sort of Fayre and they might be right. If you rely on any exhibitor being happy to pay outs lots for their space and not to sell much then think again. I have heard of a couple of organisers nearly being lynched as their Fayre was not attended very well despite their having spent hundreds of pounds in advertising.

It is the marketing part of thinks I am worried about. As a wedding industry supplier I would find it easy enough to book a venue and get suppliers to exhibit but I am worried that not enough people will turn up. I just don't know what to do to promote a fayre to ensure people do come. I am considering just putting banners up at the side of the road a week beforehand but don't know if this will be enough.
