Hello, anyone for cake?

Hello everyone, just thought it'd be nice to introduce myself as I've got so much out of reading the posts on this site the past two days.
My name is Lisa and I'm in the beginning stages of opening up my own celebration and Wedding cake shop.
I've been doing if professionally for 5 years and contribute articles to a world wide cake magazine. I'm extremely underpaid for my skill level, and felt it was time to do it for myself instead of someone else. I still work at the other shop and am fumbling my way through this process at the same time. I'm based in Birmingham and think it would be nice to hear from people.
Unfortunately I can't offer any good advice or services (other than cake stuff) like others can, and so feel a bit of a cheat. One day hopefully I may be able to help someone. If I can be of use to anyone please let me know x

Welcome to UKBF, I do hope you enjoy your stay here at the forums. Its not being a cheat only knowing 1 industry its being sensible in my mind .

Its good its a nightmare starting your own business, I am guessing that you don't or haven't finished a business plan yet if not I would suggest starting one if you have not, Always good to have a business plan to back up.

I do hope to hear from you more as I have quite a few events that I could have cake for .

I've done my business plan, i learnt so much doing it, definitely important to do one. I'm in the process of leasing a shop at the moment but can work from home. I've got a company working on my logo and someone working on my website. So hopefully the site will be up and running very soon!
If you do ever want cakes, please do get in touch. I'm happy to send you pictures of my work if you decide you need a cake. I can make pretty much anything within the laws of physics and am full of ideas

Well it looks like your ready to go full speed ahead. I would like to see some of your work though as I do alot for different occasions.

Also I am looking at sticking a partners page onto my website also. Once your website is online I would like with your permission of course to add your logo/web link and small description to the page. Might generate some extra cash for you.
