Hi all i have registered as have a question i can not seem to find the answer to.

I have offered some online services and communities for a while. I am looking to monetize these but in the business sense i wonder if i can register as one business with all services under it rather than registering each service as a separate business.

Can i do this? And what are the terms i should be using?
Like xxx property of Main register business?

Wow almost a year and not one reply. Does nobody know the answer.

Essentially I run a forum and am starting to offer hosting services. Both under different names and domains but serving mostly to same customers.

Can I have one main registered business cover both these services?

Firstly, you've posted a question in the "introductions" section, this might be the reason why you haven't had a reply.

I think it depends on how different the services you provide are - for example if you are offering web hosting services, you will need a separate registered company if, say, you wanted to branch out to selling clothes.

Essentially, each registered business has to declare what "business activities" it will be conducting, so if you can find one that covers both your activities, then only one registered business is needed.

However, just bear in mind that you will have to use the one business name and company registration number on all your invoices - which might confuse some customers (i.e. I expected an invoice from Forum Name business, but got an invoice from Hosting Services Business.)

Have a look at Companies House website and look through their business categories, that will then help you decide.

Yeah my forum is for window cleaning business owners and the sites I do are for cleaning business owners so very similar although both sites running under different names.

I was wondering if I could register as just one business for simplicity and for payments like invoices etc have the name of the corresponding site but also have trading as xyz or something just trying to figure out the simplest way to do it rather than having to have two separate lots of everything business registration, accounts, payment gateway accounts etc.
