Did a favour to a neighbour who works at an NHS Office drop in facility type premises, three floors, I would guess approx 200 staff approx since it operates 24/7. I had offered her a lift due to car troubles, on entering I couldn’t help noticing something very strange.

The heating was on, for the whole building, with windows, fans and portable aircon running at different locations due to the 38/40 degree c heat outside.

It must be lovely not worrying about your fuel bills. When I inquired, it appears few if any know how to turn it off.

My daughters uni hall has had the heat on full tilt since she arrived 2 years ago. Even in depths of winter she has windows open.

The thermostat is on the landing right by a window and the lift shaft, it gets kept cool unlike the rooms which have seals around there doors (fire doors) and the same from each of the 3 corridors of 9 rooms + kitchen to the landing.

A mixture of that stupid thermostat placement plus stupid students who expect to be able to sit around in shorts/tshirt causes the issue (most people seem to want 20-25 degrees in their rooms for some bizarre reason)
