I'm still getting terrible delays.

I'm trying to organise a charity ball in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer to take place this coming Saturday - as part of which we've been writing and asking certain companies for donations and prizes for an auction of "money can't buy" experiences and/or any other prizes they'd like to donate.

Letters I posted over a month ago have mostly been replied to, but many posted since then have not - I don't even know if they've been received, or if replies have got stuck in the post. Of course, the worst case would be that prizes HAVE been offered, but I'm not going to find out until after the ball when it's too late. I may need to get some emails out today I think, but the charity is almost certainly losing out to some extent due to the strikers.

And just to fully finish turning this into even more of a plug that it already is - if anyone would like to donate ANY prize for a ball in favour of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, I'd gladly appreciate it, and make sure the donating company gets appropriate PR on the night! Please PM me... someone!

But turning the thread back to the original question - yes, I'm getting major delays on inbound post, and several things I posted some time ago I know not to have been received yet.

My biggest concern is that a fair chunk of the items I am waiting for are worth around £20 - £30 each and to end up 'losing' them would be a pain in the butt.

Agreed - I'm starting to wonder if some of the post is disappearing, rather than just being delayed, too. I certainly hope not, although in terms of my charity ball, anything arriving later than Friday is too late anyway. It's really all very annoying.

I am wating on over £2,000 pounds worth of cheques, now decided to go out and collect and customers are going to cancel cheques. a big time consumer but as a small business can not afford to wait any longer for the payments.

I have just set up a pay off line account

Probably a good idea to collect in person if it is cheques etc.

I'm just wondering now just how many of my parcels will be delivered to the wrong address or just vanish into the royal mail black hole. There really should be accountability for missing mail in cases like this.

Yes parcels still delayed and undelivered. It starts to sound hollow to blame the strikes now, but I'm certain is it having a continued effect.

Plus lots of problems with couriers - they just could'n't cope. Some customers have been understanding but others have been very difficult. It makes you so cross as we really have done everything possible to get through this.

Our sorting office only returned to work last thursday so I guess we are still bearing the brunt of delayed deliveries

Orders I sent out a couple of weeks ago, including the day before the strikes started, but particularly 10th and 11th Oct seem badly affected - that have still not arrived to customers.

Most have been understanding, but many are now starting to demand I re-send or refund. It is about to put me out of business if I have to do that to too many more people.

Am beyond pulling my hair out now!! Royal Mail has been incredibly poor in not letting the public know about the mail backlog. Because customers are receiving some mail, they are now blaming me for not sending it out or otherwise getting it wrong, they are starting to no longer accept the strikes as an excuse, especially those customers have have called back for the 3rd time now.

Should we all protest oursleves to demand compensation?

Orders (CD software) I sent out on the 13th have not arrived and I am having to resend them again to keep my customers happy - very time consuming and of course costs money to re-burn, pack & post.

I sympathise with the posties (who would want to do their job when its p***ing down with rain on a cold January morning?) who don't earn a great deal.
Less sympathy for the management who ought to look after their employees AND their customers.

.Spiralling.

isn't there some rule somewhere that says they don't have to pay compensation for the crap they cause through striking?

It makes me so angry, that they can cause so much upheaval and even put some people out of business but because it's a strike they get away with it. If RM put their house in order one way or another there wouldn't have been any strikes. It's not the fault of small business owners but we are being made to pay the cost of these strikes.

It does seem to be the parcels that are affected most at the moment, they seem to be delivering 2 or 3 a day. We have had some more this morning with varying dates on them!!

A couple of orders I have sent out 10 days ago have not arrived yet with my customers. Unfortunatley the customer looks to the retailer as the problem and not RM.

That Bates Girl

Given that postman pat in Liverpool has been on strike for an extra week over something additional then yes, you could say that I'm still getting delays. I had exactly one piece of post today, dated October 5th.

Oh that means if you are expecting anything coming from Liverpool you'll be waiting a fair old while as well.

We sent everything by courier during the strike but come the 11th we sent about 80by packetpost, guess what every day about 20 people ring to say still not arrived, Yesterday at least one dear old lady rang up to say recieved parcel so maybe thats a good sign
No excuse for post office not to have given estimated delivery times for after strike but what can you expect from a managing director who has never run a for profit business

Haven't had any post for the last two days in a row. Definitely not usual, normally get mountains every day!

It's a shame I can't post what I really think of Royal Mail up here because I rather value my forum membership!!

    Cheers,

    Chris

I've had more parcels go missing in the last week than in the previous 2 years...and customers are starting to wonder what's going on. I didn't post during the strike, yet all orders I dispatched on the 15th via the PO haven't shown up, but most things after that date have arrived. It's not good enough.
