Seeing as the Govt listed bike shops twice as businesses that could remain open it isn't surprising that he wanted to stay open - Evans cycles is part of the group.

Ashley is one of those people that is targeted by the media at every opportunity. I don't know whether he deserves it or not but a lot of the worst stories (as with amazon also) usually turn out to be gross exaggerations. or totally untrue.

The next time you see a negative story about Ashley in the Telegraph just ask yourself who owns the Telegraph and what other businesses do they own?

This is a bloke that has never stepped in a gym in his life never done any forum of sport, training or nothing .

If he did he would know that anybody doing a sport or going to a gym would not want to dress like the king of chavs He is a feckin complete bone head

Maybe he should take inspiration from proper companies !

He's made his wealth by doing what he's always done. He's not going to change now.

Same as 'spoons' - he's done very well for himself, by doing what he's doing, why would he change either?

Some might say it's to do with morals but morals alone don't buy luxury apartments and sports cars.

Will this harm either of them. No. They know their customer base really well. Ratners was different, the customers expected luxury but were told it was all rubbish, by the owner.

With Ratners as far as I can remember it was the selling of shares that brought them down to a level that did not sustain the debt, rather than no customers

People new that the products were low quality and could live with that and were not silly enough to make a big deal like the papers about a off the cuff comment, but it scared the hell out of the shareholders

For a company like Ashleys already deep in debt, late accounts and the fallen stock market, who knows what the stock holders will do

Didn't Ratner say his products were crap? Then no one wanted to buy them.

Where as Ashley is just being a bit crap. His products are still "good".

    :):):)

I think you were in the Nike shop when you thought you were in sports direct
I think their stuff is crap

One of the problems Sports Direct have is there location in large shopping complexes and city centres, being the very place everyone are told to avoid. Safety of staff and customers in these locations are compromised so they should be closed and SD shops in out of town centres where orders can be made online and picked up encouraged.
I don't see his actions causing any lasting damage as they say, "Today's news, tomorrows chip shop paper."
