Try harder on other things (if you have any other things).

I am only trying to be an outsider looking in, I appreciate that you may have loads of ideas on the Grit bin hire thing, it won't work chap....Sorry!

If you made grit bins and gave them out free in return for buying Salt, you "may" have something

They could and some people will but most people will, and do remember the "deal". They still think they are getting a good deal, because they aren't paying for the bin!.

As well as the private houses on slopes/hills that suffer from snow and ice problems, maybe you could also contact the private Nursing Homes so they can grit their paths so their residents can walk around safely in winter
