Great App Idea! Where to go now?

Hi everyone, for obvious protection reasons I'm not going to say what the app is.

I have Came up with a great vision for an app that I can see people around the whole world using from the age of 16 above. I believe that everyone should have it one there phones and if it is practical enough to get create I can see company's such as apple, Nokia and windows selling there devices with this app pre installed.

However I think that the app is going to require some confirmation from the government as it is going to contain lots of people important private information such as personal information and scanned Identification.

Do you think this is possible? and how can i protect this idea fast so I can actually mention what it is!

If it contains lots of peoples private information and you are planning on giving other people access to it (and if you are not doing that why do you need the personal information in the first please) you'll need to be very careful about data protection laws especially in Europe.

Generally speaking you should store the absolute minimum amount of information that you need about a person.

The only reason I can think of for requiring so much personal information is if you want your app to work as a sort of digital passport with all your own personal information so you can prove who you are with copies of all your government IDs, your utility bills to prove your address etc etc.

I guess the first thing to do if you want to protect your idea is to get an NDA written and then start approaching app developers to get the work done (make sure they sign the NDA before you discuss your idea). Make sure you have the budget available to pay the developer.

Hi Cromulent, thanks a lot for your reply. I believe that I myself will be competent of creating my app as it is not going to contain nothing major just as flash graphic. I The app wont be allowing any other users of the app to access other users personal information.
The main question is would be is it possible to make the app government verified so it can be noticed and used amongst retailers/ other individuals and businesses without question.
