The Government has warned business owners not to panic buy leasing, adding that there is sufficient supply to last well into October.

Leasing brokers are experiencing long queues.

Do not panic buy from me!
There is no need. Grant Shapps has announced that the government will move heaven and earth to sort out this situation.

    That'll be all right, then.

It isn't just leasing brokers as I have had to invest in a new telephone system that allows for queuing and I've put in a recorded message saying that "your call is important to us" with a background of Nicki Minaj in case you know who calls

Well, I'm not sure about that. A good friend of mine has a vehicle rental company and JLR just cancelled all his orders with immediate effect, and other manufacturers are quoting him well well well into 2022 for any delivery times... currently.

Next weeks fuel card pump price for derv £133.17
    (110.98 + VAT) that’s a 2.06 p p l increase week on week.
There’s absolutely no shortage of fuel at the refineries we are told by ministers , so a rise of this magnitude can ONLY be profiteering.
High street filling stations should have a standing minimum £25 charge to enter their forecourts and if the vehicle won’t take that much fuel then the car driver should forfeit the surplus cash.

Wow that’s the craziest suggested solution to a problem that I’ve ever heard…

Obviously not for bikes, but it would deter those brimming their tanks with a couple of litres when they all they are doing is creating the impression of need by queuing when they really have no justification.

You're just a youngster but I can recall petrol shortages a few decades ago with people visiting petrol stations every few days to put a couple of quid's worth into the tanks and I recall thinking at the time that a minimum charge would stop this idiocy

Why? In previous panic fuel situations the lemmings refilled their tanks every 30 miles or so, forcing half a gallon (sorry, I'm old) into a full tank. minimum charge avoids people doing that

Its all alright I was told that I would probably die when running from France to the UK in the last fuel crisis 20 years ago . I was supposed to die after being shot by the customs agent ,after I had run out of paraffin at the boarder and if I did cross the UK boarder force would shoot me . At that point there would still be no diesel !
I did not die or run out of diesel

Vans There is a shortage but we will find away around that if we need anymore
After 30 years of being told there is a disaster around the corner . I dont worry know :)

A minimum figure sounds great, unless you are desperately waiting for a pay check at the end of the month or week. Idiots in my area were waiting for up to two to three hours last night, resulting in most petrol stations running out of diesel.

It will be replaced today, as normal. People falling for this rubbish of a a shortage of HGV drivers, those drivers do not deliver the fuel, and the fuel drivers are paid top money and always have been.

Have you any idea how much fuel is wasted by the lemmings queueing to fill their nearly full tanks?

No, just forces those of us who will be doing some travelling to instead of buying fuel in an area we know to start looking for fuel a couple of hundred miles away where we don't know the area.

Yes, drivers will deliver the fuel. However the delivery company may not have sufficient trained drivers to deliver full tanks to all the fuel places requiring fuel.
What with shortage of drivers, illness, pandemic, pingdemic etc....
I know a driver at the Tamworth depot delivering fuel, he says there's loads of jobs going.
That sounds like not enough drivers to deliver all the fuel needed.....

It's quite far reaching - manufacturers of commercial kitchen equipment are in the same boat. So much so that one of the biggest, Rational pulled out of a show that they usually dominate. They actually don't want orders

The knock on effect of that is the employment of the workers who fulfil those orders. When furlough ends in a few days it’s not going to be pretty.

Had to pass 4 Esso stations this morning to fill two of our vans ready for a couple of tomorrow’s jobs to Central London and Glasgow (from Yorkshire)
If we fill all our vehicles from empty we need 800 litres.
Our regular Esso ran out on Friday PM and have had an email to say they will get an overnight delivery before Monday morning. They sold 28,000 litres on Friday morning and the delivery they are getting will be 30,000 litres ( a regular delivery is 36,000 litres, why not send a full load ? After all we are continually being told that the is no shortage of fuel !)
