Google Web Master Tools - Keywords Below are the most common keywords Google found when crawling your site. These should reflect the subject matter of your site.

For our site it lists a lot of words that are not what the site is about (but they do appear on the site a lot)

Does this matter?

(I've always though not, but thought I'd check others opinions)

well... no claim to be an seo expert but if you are looking at Google's view of your website an it is not what you want it to be you might need to look at why it is seeing that pattern and change it - i.e. yes, important.

it is a list of the most common keywords on your site. If they are not relevant to what you are selling, then you should look at improving the text on your site.

However, don't be too concerned with making it so that only keywords that match what you are selling show up in there, it is natural for some words to be repeated a lot on your site

They are keywords which the spiders have found on your website and they are the more "common" keywords that they are relating your website with. If you use these keywords in your website, Google will think your page is about them. Search spiders don't have eyes, so it's important to optimize your page so you make sure search engines are going to be ranking/indexing your website correctly/how you want them too.

I think you should look at the keywords you are trying to promote and not worry about the other words.

Google ranks pages not sites: so providing a page about "widgets" has a <title>, H1 (and h2), and content about widgets then it has a chance to be ranked. Concentrate on content for the user rather than the search engines.
Get "widget" anchor text links from related sites.

It's not a problem, providing you've also got some in there that are what you're about. In fact, a lot of those will help you in ranking for long tails, which convert better.

Particularly the term "reviews".

You just need to focus on your money keywords and the long tail keywords for your site.

Top Hat, don't presume that any of the information provided via the Google Webmaster Tools is accurate or complete and especially not keywords or incoming links. It has certain uses particularly for crawl errors and finding duplicate meta tags and titles but much of the rest of the data should be treated with suspicion

I agree with Andy, you should also use some other tools to analyze your website.
