google snippets and bullets/numbering

On checking my post serps I've seen a trend for the top post to have snippets that are either bullet points or numbered points taken from the post. So I'm guessing if a post is a "how to.." type, then having numbered or bulleted instructions on them helps rankings yeah?

Yes, I have been striving to achieve the same on my search page ( http://hbcostadelsolproperties.com/property-search/ scroll to "Costa del Sol locations") but it';s very difficult to guess exactly how google wants it. I've tried to copy the same structure as my strongest competitor uses (who gets his bullet points displayed to my dismay), however the text around it matters etc.. I hope you can manage, it's been tricky for me personally.

'Google Snippets' - so that's what they're called! I recently found that I have one of these. On finding this, I tweaked the page to bring the information up to date. The snippet got reformatted and the content in the first section (which was previously shown in the snippet) is now ignored, and the second section is highlighted. This section has numbered points.

My pages don't feature the phrase 'How to...' but do have the word 'Guide' in the title.

I'm guessing that page has to be top ranking to have a snippet created.
