Google Shopping

Hiya,

I am just wondering how you can submit your products to Google shopping? I know that a good few people just go straight there now to look for products they are interested in and want to purchase. It would be good if the products from my online store could be on there.

Am I right in thinking you need to submit your products there, or is it just random products that Google is picking out?

Yes, you need to submit your products, but it's free on Google.

Just search for "Google Merchant Centre" on Google, open a Google Account, then open a Google Merchant Centre account. The best way to upload your products is via the Excel spreadsheet method.

Depending on the ecommerce system you use there might be a Google base feed plugin you can use to automate this process

I am not too sure if there are any plugins available on the ecommerce system that I use.

About Google Base, is it the same thing? Or is Google Base completely different to Google Shopping?

Google base feeds the data to all sorts of google services including Google Product Search.

How do I use the excel spreadsheet method? I have looked on youtube for videos on this but could not find anything.

Your very welcome, hope it makes sense. Once you have the right headers in your excel file its just a case of getting all of your product info in and saving it as a tab delimited text file. Sounds easy right!!

Hi Kerri,

From what i was reading on the subject the other day you need to feed your products to google which can be done by creating a data sheet. You add info such as product name, price etc via a spread sheet.

I bought a widget in the end that plugs into our commerce package and then its just a case of mashing it and unploading it which was much easier.

yes submissions is free,but you have to own the products you sell and not just dropshipping.They have become a lot stricter now.

Still haven't got round to completing this yet. I am just finishing my data feed file just now. Just wondering, will Google base automatically update to show my new products too? If not, what do you do to make it update automatically? I know this can be done but not sure how.

This is from their forum "
my "googlebase" or "froogle" file submission is a txt file.
I just go to plugins, googlebase./froogle, submit and select download the file. Then in the web browser, I do a save file as, and save as mysite.txt Then just upload to googlebase."

Can you find that option in your admin control panel?

There are different types of eCommerce system,so again it depends of the type of that system you use there will be a feed plugin through which the process is automated process
