Do many people use rich snipits on their websites. They don't seem to be used on google search results very often? Or does Google tend to ignore the rich snipit programming?

While rich snippets don't aid SEO, they do aid CTR and CRO. So far only a small percentage of websites use them, but I still often see them utilised in search results. Obviously it depends very much on the industry and site orientation as to whether to use them, often they provide no benefit.
Personally, I make the most of them where I can, especially with regards to e-commerce sites.

    Thanks SEOpie,
Interesting, are web owners making their sites to please SEO and ignoring the real user a human. I know that text on sites is so heaverly key-worded trying to actually read some pages is almost impossible and very uninspiring for a human but obviously a Google bot has different interests. All very sad.
I just thought the likes of Google had stopped taking notice of rich snippets not that people couldn't be bothered.

Google rich snippets are helpful for both search engine and website owner......Using rich snippets you convey additional information to search engine crawlers in order to decide relevancy of your web content that assist search engines to show more-&-more relevant results against search query. On other side you can add few very good visuals to make your website look standout within search result such as "breadcrumb" "Symbols" "Star-Rating" etc....
