Hi all, in generic what % of traffic do you think you would get for a term in google? Is there a guideline that can give you an idea. I have moved up for a keyword faster then i expected e.g

1st (% of total hits likely to visit site in 1st position)
2nd
3rd

Also is there something that lets me check how many people search for a particular term in terms of last year so i can make a prediction for what it might be this year. Google keywords gives the bar chart but doesnt show a number. Is there a program that does this or can anyone check for me if i give you the keyword?

If you google 'google keyword tool' itl tell you how many people search for specific terms.

I would imagine most click on no.1

The skill comes into web design with the proportion that convert.

Not sure how accurate that is now, but I've read a couple in the past. I believe it also picks up on position 10.

You can also win over more clicks if your clever with the onpage optimisation.

8% of users click on the 3rd result
6% of users click on the 4th result
5% of users click on the 5th result
4% of users click on the 6th result
3% of users click on the 7th result
3% of users click on the 8th result
