Google Places Question

Hi all,

I have a question about Google places- I run a house clearance and garden services company

For the town I live in and we are mainly based in I come right at the top of Google places on the main search page (Place A) this is for house clearance town name

However when I take out town name and just put house clearance (letting Google use my location) I do not come up at all and neither do my local competitors, however companies from a good hour/30 miles away come up instead- The exact same happens when I search house clearance for the local villages two minutes down the road (No local competitors again, all companies from miles and miles away

Any ideas please?

Google is probably going by your IP number which could be 30 miles away.

The other people have managed to get their local SEO notched up. it isn't too hard if it isn't competitive

Interesting one. I just tried this with our own Google My Business / Places page and it works for both "web design dorset" and "web design" (my location being in Dorset).

I would try modifying the title of your Google My Business page to include the "House Clearance" key phrase as well as your company name, and see what happens. I don't think it would hurt.
