Google cached pages

Hi
A customer rang the other day asking for a product supposedly on our website for a price that hasn't been valid for 3 or more years, when we looked into it, the price came as the result of a Google Search for that product.

The customer tried us on for 'that's the price you're advertising' which we resisted, the bottom line was we missed a sale as the customer accused us of being dishonest.

My questions;
Has anyone else experienced this?
If so how can it be fixed?
Are we doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Googles cache can be a right pain at times.
I get people who want to edit or delete their details from my directory,
do it, and then a few days later get stroppy emails from people who still
    see their details in Google.

Some people just don't have a clue, I had one who I deleted in the
morning who was moaning on the same evening.

With the greatest of respect, if they are looking at and relying on the google cached version, they were never a potential customer, just a chancer.

Why on earth would someone look at the google cache rather than the page itself?

The page they were looking at is a GOOGLE page, NOT your page, so why would they even try to demand you honour content on a site that isn't your own?

A Google search on that product should not have displayed a cached page in it's search results unless the user specifically clicked on the link that is titles 'Cached' (in which case it is a) their fault and b) nothing you can do about it).

It was definitely a cached page from Google and not an old product listing in a product feed still enlisted on Google Base/Shopping?

damn annoying someone should do a strongly worded letter to Google

Fortunately, I have a brilliant account manager at Google that will pass on any messages/ideas/issues and endeavours to answer any questions or problems I encounter... However, for the standard Google user, it is an absolute nightmare to even get in touch with Google or get any answers.submit any feedback.

Good luck to whoever wants to attempt writing a strongly worded letter to Google. Heh
