Google Base Excel Spread Sheet

Hi
Not sure this is the correct place to ask,but I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction if I need to ask else where.

I am trying to work out the correct things to put in an excel spread sheet to save and download to Googlebase,by this I mean price discription etc.

I have followed their instructions, but it still doesn't load ( only practising on one item till it does) each time saying I haven't added something.

I do know how to load the data,it's setting up the spread sheet ,that I am having problems with.

Does anyone on here do it by spreadsheet and if so can they tell me where I am going wrong?

Thanks

I posted this on another thread, might be helpful to you too.

A data feed is a file you upload that is a tabbed delimited text file (excel can save to this format or you can write it manually)

The file needs to have the following titled columns separated by tabs

id[tab]product_url[tab]name[tab]description[tab]image_url[tab]condition[tab]price

Below these titles in the spreadsheet file you need to list each product on a separate line with the following example information.

1[tab]http://www.example.com/product1.php[tab]Blue Widget[tab]Lovely Blue Widget with 10 sproggits[tab]http://www.example.com/images/widget1.jpg[tab]New[tab]67.54

The google guidelines explain this a bit better here http://www.google.com/support/mercha...r=160588&hl=en

Where's I've written tab, in excel that would be the next column

Miss PP,

Try saving your file as a comma separated file (.csv)

In excel, go to file > "save as" and in the 'file type' drop-down box at the bottom of the 'save as' window, select 'comma separated (csv)' and click 'save'. You'll get a couple of messages saying that this file format doesn't support multiple worksheets - just click OK and you're done :)

You should be able to upload the CSV file then to Google.

Good luck :)

Hi
It is the details that I require to put in the spread sheet ,sorry I think you all have misunderstood me

They show you to write item ,discription, etc but I must be missing some other details out. I take id stands for my id number.

Also they show url for image - where do I find that I can find url for the product but not image.

So a template of the list of words one puts on the spread sheet is basically what I require as I am manually adding my products.

Thanks

We use the following columns: (unique) ID, Price, Link (to product page), Description, Title, Image Link (URL to product image), Condition (new/used etc), Quantity (in stock), Payment Note (seems to default to Mastercard), Brand, Model Number, Product Type (Home & Garden > Kitchen & Dining > Tableware > Coffee Pots & Tea Pots for example), Colour, Weight, Manufacturer.

Have all these in separate columns, populate with your products, save as a .txt file, upload and you're done.

Hi

As per my previous post....

I hope that helps...it really is very straightforward.
