Google Adwords Question

I have an ad group running nationally which I don't want to stop... and another ad group for the same service that I want to target more locally, the local advert is set to geographical area but isn't displaying as it conflicts with the other one... how can I do this?

All you need to do is add a negative rule to the national ad to stop it appearing in the area you're targeting with the local ads.

Just follow Google's instructions fromhere.

Yes in your locations settings for the national campaign exclude the area

Yes or you could split out to two campaigns - one for national and one for regional. This will help you split the budget more evenly as the national will have a higher search volume and could eat up most of the budget ! ( if you are limited by budget) You want to maximise on local traffic as it will most likely have a higher CVR?

I would split out the campaigns, one that's national and one that's regional. Not only that but look to see which areas work best for you and optimise from there. You can then potentially do bid adjustments to be more aggressive in more profitable areas.
