Google Adsense - Been Banned I have

Some time ago I cut out almost all Google code from my sites but left a few Adsense banners because even a trickle of income is hard to give up :)

I've not changed these for months and months but this week got an email from Google telling me my account had been disabled. Bit odd I thought so used the link provided to appeal. Couldn't tell them I was going to stop the "invalid activity" because I don't know what it is but did my best to say if I had broke the rules I would try to be good.

Just got an email telling me they won't be changing their mind and they as they won't discuss it that me done with Adsense then. Luckily a few days ago they had paid me so my account was next to nothing.

The is absolutely no reason for this ban, I can only assume they read this forum :D

Its more likely someone clicked on an ad for the first time on a page with no content. That is the no.1 reason people get banned but say nothing has changed. In other words the potential was always there to get banned but has only just happened.

Its normally a login page or a block behind a members only area.

I never understand this google adsense stuff. I have a slight interest and have pocketed handsomely from a few projects but the guidelines are very grey.

I understand that you aren't meant to display ads on pages that require actions, like filling in contact forms. Yet you see many sites that get away with this sort of thing. This is an example of a site, that you would think would be on a google radar, breaking T&C of adsense, as far as i understand them? searchengineland.com/contact (ad on the right.)

Does this forum not also break guidelines displaying ads when in "filling out a forum post" mode. Or am in not understanding ad T&C?

Loads of other ways to monitise the site, I wouldn't worry.

Not worried at all, Adsense income had dropped to about a 10th of what it was 2 years ago. I would rather make £20 for one affiliate click then £20 from from 100 adsense clicks now.

I will be looking for a replacement because I like to mix it up and although it won't make any difference to Google, if I find one I like I'll be promoting it to others who have been banned.

I only post this here as a sort of warning on what people can expect from Google now. I think I must have had my account for 7-10 years and used it on perhaps 30 sites.

True, 7-10 years is a long time. Obviously no one has manuly looked at the account, must be a automated response I would of thought.

I think the first was auto when they disabled the account, then when I appealed it they probably decided my account does not meet the current criteria - apparently is a lot more difficult to join now then when I joined.

Here's the response to the appeal for reference;

Hello, Thank you for your appeal. We appreciate the additional information you've provided, as well as your continued interest in the AdSense program. However, after thoroughly re-reviewing your account data and taking your feedback into consideration, our specialists have confirmed that we're unable to reinstate your AdSense account. Please know that, once we've reached a decision on your appeal, further appeals may not be considered, and you might not receive any further communication from us. Note that AdSense publishers whose accounts are disabled for violations of our Terms and Conditions are not eligible for further participation in AdSense. For this reason, you may not open new accounts. Also, accounts disabled for invalid click activity will receive no further payment nor any reissue of previous payment. Your outstanding balance and Google's share of the revenue will both be fully refunded back to the affected advertisers. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We understand that you may want more information about your account activity. However, because we have a need to protect our proprietary detection systems, we're unable to provide our publishers with any details about their account activity. Sincerely, The Google AdSense Team

More potentially illegal withoulding of personal information by Google.

Safe to say there will soon be a concerted effort, /organised attack on Google where hundreds (if not thousands) of subject access requests will be made on them. I know from experience they will not comply, so lets see how the Information Commissioners Office deal with this ;)

Mine went in March, I'd done nothing wrong either, I tried to desposit the cheque, I think it was about £80 or £90 I was kicking myself because it was lying on my desk for about a week so I could have got it in before the ban. My business bank account charged me £4 for the cheque they'd cancelled too.

I make more from Amazon Affiliates and CPA offers now anyway and Adsense was never my focus. It's best to spread your risks when it comes to internet marketing.

I think I appealed a couple of times but it's a waste of time. I was furious that they robbed me.

I had the same thing happen to one of my accounts that trickled in a few quid from back in the dawn of time.

Oddly it came less than 30 days after me putting Infolinks on the a couple of the domains. Nothing else changed on those sites in ages, so I have my thoughts on what happened....

I didn't use Infolinks at the time but I went onto that to directly replace Adsense, I've heard that you can register another Adsense account with a separate business entity but I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole again.
