I would really value anyone who could give me some help with my question..

My website EpicCvs dot co dot uk write CV's on behalf of old,new and existing job hunters.

We are due to launch in Jan 2010 and wanted to find out what YOU think is the best option for online advertising. I am to be honest out of ideas... I have Considered the following options. We want to do a small test campaign for Jan trialing one of the following methods? Budget for Jan is £200-£500.

1. Google Ads.
2. Gumtree Spot light Ads.
3. Putting up a flash banner on recruitment websites.

If anyone could help bounce off some ideas it would be a geat help not just with this question but any low cost ideas on how to generate some leads ....

Many thanks in advance! :)

I would create a blog and load it with great job hunting/interview/job type blog posts etc.

I used to write for one of Googles top job websites and they are top I assume because they have hundreds (if not thousands by now) of articles relating to all things 'job'.

You need good niche content to be added regularly to your site.
Incoming links and so on.

Meanwhile go after your target audience. Subscribe to job hunting forums and post often so that the forum members (future clients) will get to know you, trust you and hire you.

Perhaps you could also trade links with job agencies etc.

Good luck

Leah

edit:

I just saw your blog. You need more keywords.
Refer to my tips pages re how to write content to attract search engines and readers.
http://www.painfreemarketing.co.uk/Tips.html
http://www.painfreemarketing.co.uk/ArticleService.html

I note you are writing the phrase 'epic CV' a lot. This is only helpful if people search 'epic CV'.
See here re questions people ask re 'CV's'.
http://labs.wordtracker.com/keyword-questions/questions?seed=CV&commit=Search
http://labs.wordtracker.com/keyword-questions/questions?seed=Curriculum+vitae&commit=Search
http://labs.wordtracker.com/keyword-questions/questions?seed=resume&commit=Search

You will note one of the highest searched questions is:

How to write a resume.

and

Resume help.

So keywords you should be aiming for need to include the word resume!

Meanwhile from my days in writing about all things jobs, I know that different countries have different preferences for how a CV/resume should be laid out. So discussing those different styles on your site would also be helpful.

In regards to Gumtree I would stick with the free posting option - that way you have nothing to use! Plus people who are looking specifically for your service will find it. Spotlight ads are ok, but I don't know many people who scroll across them in all honesty. You could always get your listing at the top of the specific page (sorry, can't remember what this is called but it is cheaper than spotlight ads!)

Google is usually a good place to start, would definitely look at organic SEO as well, nothing better than a No.1 listing without having to pay for it! :D plus a percentage of people feel a stigma against paid for results for some reason, so best to have a combination of PPC and organic in my opinion (but I'm no expert!)

I occasionally advertise in Gumtree free listings but don't seem to get much from it. So far it's given me 1 client who was excellent and a good payer and another one who never paid me for a logo design - never did get the money owed. :(

Being optimistic, I still post adverts for the extra exposure.
