I have used the Job Centre before to advertise a job. That was the only time I did it, as the calibre if the people they wee calling to try and get me to interview was, shall we say, less than suitable for the position - even though I had given specific instructions to them.

Have you tried calling your suppliers? They quite often hear of people they deal with who are not happy in their job, more than likely in the market you are in, and the supplier is happy to pass the info on as it means there is a good chance they will still be used in the supply chain... It has worked for me, without all of the hassle of advertising and interviews with unsuitable candidates.

And it is free! ;)

We advertised with the Job Centre recently and you now do this on directgov.

We found that the advert was copied automatically to quite a few other private websites.

We were absolutely swamped with applications from multiple sources so much so that we had to pull the ad after 24 hours and ask the other sites to take it down.

There were some really good candidates amongst them.
