I have a UK limited company which has the word "Global" in the name.

For this reason, Barclays have refused my request to open a business account.

Does anyone have any idea if this is likely to be a problem with other banks ?

The name was not a problem for Companies House.

Thanks,
Paul

I had exactly this at Barclays too.

Their risk-management team have decided that the word in a company name has an enhanced risk of being used by a company involved in cross-border laundering.

No idea whether other banks have the same risk-assessment too.

Our company is APS Global Ltd and had no problems with Natwest. Even got an account through them with Ulster Bank in Republic of Ireland and now looking at Germany, Netherlands and Hong Kong. Considering we do payroll services and use accounts to handle client funds, it sounds like Barclays would have a fit if we went anywhere near them!

Yes, Barclays does have this strictness. Not too sure, if this is followed in every branch though. Which city did you try to open the account in?
