Getting testimonials

I’ll probably get a roasting for this but I’m blaming the hot sun and cold beers.

Getting customers to leave testimonials on our website is like hearding cats.

But on eBay we get hundreds of positives a month along with written coments.

Would it be wrong to take these genuine comments from eBay buyers and add them to the website myself? It would be for the exact same product and no personal info would be added.

No doubt google could see these comments coming from the same IP address and punish us by banging our website down to page 101 but what if I used a VPN?

We sell by auction on eBay so prices can be quite low. I don’t want to encourage web shoppers to see our eBay listings.

Hi there,
I don't see any problem if you add the same comments on the website. Maybe you can add a mention saying that they came from ebay (but you don't need to link them). In the end these comments are genuine and you are just utilising them on your website to prom te your products.

A free MailChimp campaign with a testimonial link to your website will let you target 2000 people. Might be worth a shot!

Trustpilot's free account will allow you to send an email to everyone who's purchased through your website encouraging them to leave a review. That might be a good way to tap into people who have purchased but not left reviews.

Have you tried following up on your Ebay customers and asking them to leave a testimonial? In exchange of linking back to their business or personal website?

How about running a competition, say one entry to win £x of vouchers for everyone who leaves a testimonial by the end of June?

You should follow up your eBay customers and ask them to leave a testimonial on your website. You can even offer them a special discount, so you can get them more motivated to do it.

Nothing wrong with copying your eBay/amazon/trust pilot etc reviews and publishing them on your website. Just don't post them as Google Reviews or Facebook reviews - you need to collect those separately.
