I want to get our office junior doing some low level SEO on some of the internal pages of the FinderMonkey site. Does anyone have an suggestions as to what I could get him doing? I can free him up for about two hours a day and he's full time. I was thinking of some link building but not sure if there's any low level stuff in this area?

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Agree with spock, get them doing articles. Low level stuff but can pick up some decent work if you target them at longtail keywords such as "How to find an emigrated family member" and then have an article on tips and resources.

Target articles right, and they can be a great investment.

So what are the best places to distribute articles online?

I've used PRweb, Pr Log, articlesbase, ezine

Should I keep submitting to those ones or use new ones?

You have to remember with SEO that you really do get what you pay for. No offence to your office junir (or you), but what SEO skills do they have, and what SEO skills do you have to be instructing them?

I'd suggest you would be better off putting a serious SEO campaign in place with quality keyword research to begin with... then maybe the office junior can be assigned some tasks based on the site having good target keywords, and good quality on-site SEO.

Would you ask the office junior to spend some time keeping the company cars serviced?

In my opinion SEO should be done in house or if you outsource it at all then make sure you work with someone who isn't banging stuff out. Only your employees will be able to actually write compelling, deep expert content about you and the products you sell.

I have had the same scenario and to be honest it's down to the person you employ. When I employ anyone now, copy - writing skills, basic marketing etc are all things I look for and I have everyone here writing FAQ's, and articles that are really superb and deep.

A good start for a junior for me is to teach him/her about copy, teach him about keywords and how an article utilisies them and includes them with a few links back to key web pages. I have found this is a good start. Give the lad a very tight area to talk about with 5 or 6 keywords and let him go and blog or whatever. He'll pick it up from there or not.

There is no low level stuff in starting SEO besides link building. You can assign him task of directory submissions in beginning.

Not true, most SEO is relatively simple to do - you just have to know how to do it well.

Get him doing keyword research as mentioned by others but make sure you go back over the conclusions he reaches if you are going to action any of his suggestions.
