Getting a 'trade rate' for hotels so i can package...

    Didnt quite know how to title this but here goes.

    As part of a new venture i'm planning i want to package hotel/B&B rooms in with self drive hire for weekends.

    I'm trying to find out if theres a way hotels/B&B's will give me discount for using them regularly & promoting them via my packages?

    Is there such thing as a 'trade' rate for this? i.e. something that will allow me to make a little on the rooms cost whilst not charging more than their standard rate?

    Any guidance welcome!

    The industry standard with the big boys was 8% from the hotels. This was when we were organising conferences. Package holidays I am not sure.

    Try calling a few and just ask what rate they will give you as a 'tour operator'

    Hi,

    Yes there are ways to do this.

    What i would recomend is to contact some hotels in the town/city you are thinking of doing this, ask to speak to the manager and ask for a discounted rate for YOUR customers(not theirs). Don't forget you are going to do them a favour. ask what would be the best possible prices they could give to you.

    Once you have a few offered discounts, you can place the cheaper priced hotels at the top of the page(or the ones making you a bigger profit!) and the lower profit at the bottom etc, Thats assuming you have a website?.

    Just out of interest where are you looking for hotels for packages? i am from Blackpool and know quite a few hotels who would be interested?

    It will also depend on who will be paying for the room. Will you be paying in advance and get the discount or will your client pay directly in which case you negotiate and intro commission of around the 8% mark

    You should check out http://www.international-confex.com
    at Earls court in a couple of months. Lots of Hotels and conference centres there vying for business and the right person will be there to make a deal.

    we are actually launching our VIP Cards in Newquay which may be of interest to you as part of your package. we promote bars, nightclubs and restaurants among other business that offer free entries, queue jumps, discounts on drinks etc.

    This will involve offers from the Beach club for example.
