Yep, simple as andrewflower12 says - the Google spider will follow (dofollow) the link whereas nofollow links will not be followed and in turn have no real benefit in terms of SEO to your site.

Dofollow helps your PR also and NoFollow links do not.

Actually, no follow links are still followed by search engine but those "no follow" links should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index

The main reason is that when Google cache the do follow link it will give preference to the original site but this will not happen in case on NO follow links...
