Full or Part Time definition?

Hello all, I'm new here and just reaching out for some advice on taking on my first employee (excited and petrified at the same time). I'm a sole trader and been in business for around 8 years. My new employee will be working Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm with half an hour for lunch. This equates to 30 hours per week but I'm confused as to whether this is considered full or part time. She will be on a contract.
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

The difference does not really matter. The employee will be on a 30 hour contract. Why do you worry about if it is defined as full or part time? There is no such definition.

It's your decision to set the hours. If for you a full timer is 30 hours then anyone working less is not full time.

The main reason you'll need to know what is full time is for calculating anything pro rata in the future e.g. if a full timer gets 25 days holiday then how much does a person doing 15 hours get? If your full timer is 30 hours then your 15 hour person would get half the holiday. If your full timer is 40 hours then its less than half.

    Does that make sense?

Right now it doesn't matter very much but if you plan to expand, then longer term its worth knowing what you would consider full time.
